Editor's Note: Recharging the senses

What a pleasure it was to see visitors and exhibitors at this year’s European Seafood Exposition and Seafood Processing Europe. While travel through different time zones sometimes takes a toll on the body, it’s always well worth it to see people face to face. Thank you to the many attendees and new readers who stopped by our booth (shared with sister product SeafoodSource.com) to say hello, we are still following up leads.
When I wasn’t at the booth talking with readers I was on the show floor and related events with a camera in hand. The continued growth of the Brussels show, which this year was in its 20th edition and had more than 25,600 attendees, is a positive sign for the overall strength of the global seafood industry.
Brussels was the perfect opportunity to recharge the senses; seeing all of the new products and packaging in one venue was a good reminder of all the work that goes into developing a product that appeals to consumers. At the show I was able to meet one of our new contributing editors, Anthony Fletcher, who lives in Brussels. You can find his first feature for SFB on Brussels’ own Chez Léon (click here). Anthony is writing the foodservice angle of our international coverage, so if you have ideas for him to check out send them to me and I’ll forward them on.
SeaFood Business will also be at the Asian Seafood Exposition in Hong Kong Sept. 11 to 13 and Seafood Barcelona, Oct. 15 to 17.
