Processing Survey: Pressure cooker
Biennial survey finds processors shoulder increased burdens
September 05, 2011
Between juggling customers, adhering to regulations and monitoring a changing supply, processors have a lot on their plates.
Yet despite the challenges, more than 60 percent of processors who responded to the biennial SeaFood Business survey said 2010 sales were higher than 2009’s. Some are even planning increased equipment purchases, are adding to product lines and entering new markets.
The survey, produced by SFB parent company Diversified Business Communications, was conducted online from May to July 2011 and had a response rate of 6.7 percent.
SeaFood Business solicited our readers to complete the survey and they responded with enthusiasm. Our $50 winner is Darus Peake of Tillamook Bay Boathouse, LLC, in Nehalem, Ore.
